Your thyroid gland regulates your body’s use of energy. If it is not producing enough hormones (hypothyroidism), you will feel sluggish. If it is overproducing hormones (hyperthyroidism), you may feel revved up with a rapid pulse and other symptoms. In the United States, the main cause of thyroid problems is the autoimmune system creating antibodies that attack the thyroid gland. There is evidence that those who follow a plant-based diet, void of meat and dairy, are significantly less likely to get thyroid problems. There are also individuals whose hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism have disappeared after switching to a plant-based diet. This class will set you on the right foot for following a healthful, plant-based diet with simple yet delicious recipes for the whole family. This interactive class includes a video, a discussion, handouts, a cooking demonstration and recipes.
Tickets are transferable but not refundable. The Food for Life program is a community-based nutrition education program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). PCRM is a nonprofit organization advancing preventive medicine, primarily good nutrition, and supports higher standards in research.

In consideration of participating in Food for Life classes, I acknowledge and understand the dangers and risks inherent in such activities related to preparing food, consuming certain foods, and working with tools and appliances. I hereby waive, release, and discharge Physicians Committee, Food for Life and its instructors, officers, employees, and volunteers against any and all claims, demands, action, or causes of action for costs, expenses, or damages to personal property or personal injury, or death, which may result from my participation or child’s participation in these activities. I assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages resulting from my participation or child’s participation in this program including responsibility for using reasonable judgment in all phases of participation of the program. I acknowledge that my participation or child’s participation is solely at my own risk, and that I assume full responsibility for any resulting injuries and damages. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the event host(s) and instructor of any emergency medical information and ANY food allergies/or dietary restrictions for me or my child. This class will not be recorded.
